How do I find my IP Address?

Your IP Address is a group of four numbers, separated by dots, which allow other computers to connect to your computer.

The method for finding your IP Address varies, depending on which version of Windows you are running:

Windows NT, 2000, XP or 2003:

  1. Open a Command Prompt;
     
  2. In the Command Prompt window, type: ipconfig;
     
  3. Press Enter;
     
  4. The window will display information about your network connection, including your IP address:

    In this example, the IP Address is 192.168.1.17.
     
  5. To close the command prompt, type exit, and press Enter.

Windows 95, 98 or Me:

  1. On the taskbar at the bottom of your screen, click Start, and then click Run.
     
  2. In the Run dialog box, type: winipcfg
     
  3. Click OK;
     
  4. You will see the Windows IP Configuration dialog box, which will tell you what your IP Address is:

  5. To close the window, click OK.
