How do I transfer my domain to Trinet?
The following procedures are guidelines only aimed at minimising any disruption whilst transferring a domain to Trinet Ltd.
BEFORE starting the Transfer Process
- Provide us with the details of all services required - www, ftp, email etc.
- We will configure these on our servers prior to starting the transfer process.
- Upload any website information to the our servers to ensure website is functioning properly.
Transferring .co.uk / .org.uk domains
- Send a fax to your current ISP asking them to release the domain to IPSTAG: FIBRANET. Request that this should occur on a set date and ask for confirmation that it has been released.
- Inform us when you have requested the domain to be released, providing all details of the request (copy fax is the simplest approach).
- We will monitor the status for the domain, and as soon as it has been released will transfer the domain onto our DNS servers.
Transfering .com / .org domains
- Ask for the username and password that allows you as registrant of the domain to access the registrar's website.
- Change the admin and technical contacts.
- Change the DNS records to point to our DNS servers.
- We will then instigate the transfer process, having spoken to the existing ISP to ensure that their contact information is correct.
General Notes
- If you have both .co.uk and .com domains, transfer these one at a time, ensuring that the first domain transfer has completed first before starting the second domain.
- If possible, always transfer .co.uk domains before .com domains, as this is a simpler process
- If the existing ISP is co-operative on the transfers then the process is relatively simple.
- If the current ISP will accept instructions to deal directly with us, we can co-ordinate the transfer and it should go more smoothly.
